Lapis Lazuli, from the Arabic for blue stone, has been mined for 6000 years in the West Hindu Kush of Afghanistan. The ancient Egyptians made cosmetics from the ground stone. Only Afghan Lapis, flecked with fool's gold, is used in our jewelry.
